T.O.S.C.A. è un Concorso di Canto riservato agli iscritti all’ultimo anno del Corso di Canto lirico dei Conservatori italiani e stranieri (o di Istituti equiparati) o ivi Diplomati negli ultimi 2 anni precedenti il Concorso. Dall’edizione 2017 viene aggiunta la categoria “studenti privatisti” alla quale possono iscriversi studenti non diplomati ma con almeno 3 anni di studio certificati da un insegnante professionista.

T.O.S.C.A is a competition reserved for singers/students in the final year of their opera course of the Conservatory of Music for Italian and Foreign students (or equivalent) and for those who already hold a music diploma up to two years prior to the competition. To the special category “Private students” can apply non graduated students, who can prove to have been taking singing lessons for the past 3 years from a professional Opera teacher.

La mission di questo Concorso è mettere in comunicazione giovani talenti, accompagnati da una formazione tecnica e culturale adeguata, con le Agenzie Teatrali, incaricate a riconoscere in essi i futuri protagonisti dei Teatri dell’Opera di tutto il mondo, e il Palcoscenico, che potrà essere forse piccolo inizialmente o in località poco conosciute, ma che è il solo a poter fare di un capace studente di canto un vero artista.
The mission of the Competition is to give the opportunity to young singers with adequate musical and theatrical preparation the chance to perform on small stages and in lesser known theatres around the world thereby helping to turn the able student into an artist of the stage.

Abbiamo voluto farne da subito un Concorso Internazionale perché la capacità di non conoscere confini, siano essi economici, geografici, linguistici o culturali, è propria di tutte le espressioni artistiche, in primis la Musica, e viene premiata nell’ambito di T.O.S.C.A. con lo speciale premio dell’Istituto HEYERDAHL, in ricordo del noto e pluri-premiato antropologo, navigatore e regista norvegese Thor Heyerdahl (Larvik 1914 – Andora 2002), che dedicò tutta la propria vita alle esplorazioni e allo studio. Famosa è la sua frase “Borders? I’ve never seen one, but I’ve heard they exist in some people’s minds.” Con questo riconoscimento un rappresentante dell’Istituto premierà il Candidato che con la propria esibizione e personalità meglio rappresenti la bellezza, l’armonia, la capacità di comunicare e il contenuto culturale propri della Musica, che non conosce confini e unisce i popoli.
We choice to make T.O.S.C.A an International Competition, thereby breaking down geographical cultural economic and linguistic borders though our aim was first and foremost to open up musical borders. The special prize awarded by the HEYERDAHL INSTITUTE, is in memory of the renowned award winning Norwegian anthropologist navigator and director Thor Heyerdahl (Larvik 1914 – 2002 Andora) who dedicated his life to exploration and learning. The essence of his quote represents the spirit of the prize ” Borders ? I’ve never seen one, but I’ve heard they exist in some people’s minds.” The winner will be awarded the prize by a representative of the Heyerdahl institute for his / her artistic performance which best represents the beauty harmony and the art of cultural communication which unites people and knows no borders.
